It’s always interesting to hear about stories of the diaspora. But did you know how race relations in Italy is for black or mixed folks? check this article out http://afroeurope.blogspot.com/2011/10/problems-of-black-or-mixed-race.html

On other news, please watch this interview of Naomi Campbell with CNBC. Thank you Afro-Europe for sharing this.

Though few weeks have passed since we celebrated community and diversity on labor day at Mossswood Park, we wanted the rest of the world to know how we spent it and the footage below does it justice just by showing its and bits of what has gone down.

The event organized under the title “The Oakland fam bam labor day get down” was organized by a group of our friends under the name “I am Oakland” was able to bring more than 500 people to the yard for a lovely get together under the sun. There was a bunch of food, barbecue, games, DJs playing, art, basket ball, dance, and at last, a movie at the amphi theatre adjacent to the park when it got dark. The movie was….(drum rolls plse) The Wiz. It was such an amazing day of togetherness and community love. There was everything to do for every age group. This went down as one of the best days in Oakland in many people’s books.

Shout outs to the leader and mastermind of this event and community organizer Travis Watts. And thank you Mike Smithsonian for the footage.
